I'm well aware there's already a channel in the Card Games server, but just personally, joining such a huge server is intimidating, and I'd rather not be restricted to a channel like that. That in mind, I decided I'd go ahead and set up a Wixoss server. Of course, it's kind of pointless to make a server like that if no one else is interested, so...Yeah, if anyone is interested, please let me know.
What's on your mind?

Currently ive been trying to play a bit more wixoss then usual but theres not many rooms in webxoss so if you would like to play some time (to test a deck or actually play iguess) tell pls
Today's adventure was with 4-player variants. Everyone-vs-Everyone-Else, Teams and Assassin. Balance held up surprisingly well even although that was where I figured the problems would be. I doubt going outside the pre-builts would work without further modification but we only had the initial 5 pre-builts so there weren't any problems. I figure if people have bad spatial relation skills (for SIGNI zones at angles) it would be a problem but everyone at the table was a designer or an engineer so there was no trouble.
EvsEE - This was actually really fun. A complete caconphony of battoru in all directions. Nothing lived very long at all. I'd love to try this when my other pre-built decks arrive.
Teams - This actually took the most tweaking (and a few tries). I'll call the teams A and B and players A1, A2, B1 and B2. The best turn order seemed to be A1, B1, A2, B2. Allowing players to Guard for their teammates seemed to be ok and not too disruptive. Sharing ener zones, LRIG decks and hands is out of the question as that's just too powerful. Also found that cards that target all opposing SIGNI only affect one opponent. Like with EvsEE the dynamic of spreading attacks between different players was really fun. But man SIGNI don't live very long LOL.
Assassin - Assassin is really meant to be done with, like, 8+ people but there are only 5 decks here and 4 players. For those who don't know, Assassin is a variant where you put everyone's name into a hat. Everyone draws a name and keeps it secret. Although you can attack anyone the first player you kill has to be the person you drew the name of. If not, you lose too. When you kill your target you discard their name and take whatever name they had as your new target. If you draw or inherrit you own name you can kill whoever you want but of course once you do you get their name and are no longer a rogue.
All of the problems we encounted had to do more with 4-player Assassin than with Assassin Wixoss. It's just too few people. In game 1 we were all rogues at the start. Although, unlike with MtG, Assassin Wixoss has a pretty cool feature. I admit I haven't played much but Wixoss seems to have a sense of frantic despiration when the Life Cloth runs low which I find is missing in MtG. As somebody can actually sit at 0 Life Cloth and still put up a crazy strong resistance Assassin was a lot... sneakier here. People get dropped to 0 Life Cloth and are still unsure of who is actually trying to kill them. That was pretty exciting.
TL;DR = If you have the skill to tell where Signi Zones line up when players aren't sitting across from each other, and can handle sticking to the pre-builts, these three variants are pretty fun for those who can play with irl.
I've been building Webxoss decks in my free time so that I'm not just playing the same one and I've noticed that I'm actively avoiding certain LRIGs. This doesn't shock me. I'm the type who gets far more enjoyment from the atmosphere and connection than I do in the strength of the deck. Adding to that, Wixoss is a personal game because the LRIG is (usually) a defined character. I wasn't playing MtG when Planeswalkers were introduced but I imagine I would've felt similar then.
But of course this means more things influence my waifu... errr LRIG choices. I'm sure they're all perfectly fine to play with but...
Midoriko - Let's get the biggest offender out of the way first. I don't like her design and I didn't like her in the anime. "Wanna" reminds me of possibly the worst relationship I've ever been in. On top of all that, when I finished the anime I went cruising for fanart and stuff only to find my first Wixoss h doujin. I've got a tough skin for that stuff (I've even played games from the Cyc line. Didn't enjoy the H but at least I didn't barf) but it really wasn't pretty and left some imagines I couldn't get out of my head. Sorry, Midoriko but fate decreed I can never be your selector.
Anne - I just don't like her design, which is sad since I hear she's great. But with her and Midoriko out of the picture and Aiyai (who I actually really like) not on Webxoss that removes green LRIGs from my webxoss palette entirely.
Mirurun - I really really rally hate her design. Least favourite LRIG design of all.
And three who dodged the bullet:
Tawil - I'll play her but a bit reluctantly because I hate the wings growing out of the head thing (feet too, unless they're energy wings. That's ok. I have no opinion on energy wings growing out of the head since I don't think I've ever seen that. Mecha wings are always okay anywhere). Apart from that she has a really fun design.
Ulith - Ulith is like Albedo to me. Absolutely fantastic character and the anime really needed somebody like her. She makes a great villain. Also, I do like black. But similar to Albedo from Xenosaga as much as I appreciate and respect her character I really wanted to strangle her:) Like Tawil I'll play her but I'd more likely just use another black LRIG.
Myuu - Like with Ulith and Tawil, I will play her. She's absofreakinlutely ADORABLE. Totally one of the cutest LRIGs. I just hate bugs and playing her without bugs seems off. If it has a shell, I'm pretty much frozen with fear. If it's squiggly I get all paranoid. If it spins webs I tolerate it but that took my entire life to build up resistance. Strangely enough I'm fine with ladybugs, dragonflies, butterflies, bees, caterpillars... I dunno.
I just figured I should post and see if anyone else has odd reasons for skipping certain LRIGs.
My first two decks arrived today (White Aplii and Red Ambition) and I have to rethink how I'm going to make this game playable for English-only players. Here are my ideas with the pros and cons.
-My initial plan was to tape a printout of the name, type and rules text for the card to it and put them in sleeves. Upon seeing the actual cards they're pretty beautiful and I don't want to go ruining them with tape. Just to clarify as far as I'm concerened each of these cards has a monetary value of $0. I'm never going to be able to trade or sell so they might as well be toilet paper. It's just that they're pretty toilet paper and I don't want to ruin them with sticky tape. Pros: All card info in English right where it should be. Cons: Ruins the cards.
-I don't want to just proxy them all because then why the heck did I bother buying them? Also that'd be an insane amount of ink. Pros: Looks pretty Cons: I'm basically wasting over $100cad AND paying way more than that in paper and ink
-I could make a card frame to put in the sleeve which will still display (most of) the card art while still giving a solid skeleton for the card name, type and rules text. Pros: All card info in English right where it should be. Cons: Cutting squares out of what will eventually be 500+ cards does not sound fun.
-Try and fit the card name and card type on the printout with the card's rules text so it only takes up the lower portion of the card. Pros: Obstructs as little of the card as possible without ruining it with tape. Cons: Might be awkward for some people not looking to the top of the card for the name.
-Only let people who can read Japanese play: COMPLETELY defeats the point and makes me look like an arrogant jerk so no. The point is to grow (no pun intended) a Wixoss community in my city.
Hi fellow Selectors.
Like everyone, I'm starting WIXOSS TCG and bought some cards. I'm really enjoying this game, so I thought I'd try to gather some french fellow Selectors to build a french WIXOSS community.
I'm also starting a small website for rules explanation, decklists, card spotlights, etc.
If anyone's interested in helping, feel free to drop a message. :)
I think it would be really fun to create an online game for wixxos like cf ru for cardfight.
I've still not learned how to play properly so i can't do it myself for now but if they are any volunteers just send me a reply or a pm ^^
